If you have chosen to get started in the world of digital marketing and blogging, first of all, welcome! Listed below are the top five most noticeable mistakes all new bloggers make. The best part? All of these mistakes are 100% avoidable with just a little bit of planning. I am so glad you are here, let’s get started!
Deciding on what your brand’s niche is will help create clarity for your readers. This seems obvious to some but most bloggers overlook this when they are starting out. Honestly, I don’t blame them! There is such a wide spread of niches that one could focus on that it can be overwhelming! I am not saying you have to be set in stone forever on the niche you chose when you first started. However, having that clarity from the beginning will help you.
Create your branding kit! I promise you if there is one thing you take from this blog post it is to create a branding kit! This will save you time and energy when it comes to creating your content or products. From your logos, service providers, colors, fonts, etc. Having all of this in one place will help you in so many ways! I would recommend Canva Pro to create your branding kit especially for all my new bloggers!

Your readers or customers are coming to you for a service that they rely on. Whether it’s daily, weekly, monthly, or even yearly. My point is they are relying on consistency. Bloggers and social media content creators even small businesses can lack consistency. Being consistent with your products, services, and even your posting schedule keeps your readers, clients and customers coming back in the future. So why wait to set up a routine that helps you be more consistent?
Dig into all things SEO- Search Engine Optimization. This is how your blog, your social media posts, basically everything is going to gain more audience. This involves keywords, hashtags, etc. Most newer bloggers wait to learn about SEO when this should’ve been one of the first things they did. Start from the beginning and save yourself so much time!
Promote yourself! Go on Linkedin and share your blog post, go on Facebook and promote it! Your blog is not magically going to be found without marketing. Again- Your voice, your story, your experience has value in it and it deserves to be shared! New bloggers wait too long to promote themselves trust me- I was one of them! Start from the beginning.
You are bound to make mistakes, that’s the beauty of all of this. Remember, you are human, you will have days that you want to be lazy and lay on the couch and watch TV and that’s okay. Also remember, that you chose to start the journey of being a blogger and that journey will be filled with so many opportunities and opening doors. Congrats on your journey and I am always here if you have any questions!
